The firm prides itself on its competitive edge and maintains excellent relations with the key players in both the public and private sectors in Sierra Leone.
The Firm is committed to first class service delivery and is research-oriented with young, fast paced and client-focused lawyers. We strive to ensure that the client must be able to do business on his/her own terms albeit within the ambit of the law and yet still, never be disadvantaged.

During the course of this evening, 16th December 2025, Jusu Sesay Esq., Terry Jones-Stanley Esq. and Alim Bangura Esq. were translated in a time-honoured tradition and solemn ceremony, i.e., being called to the Bar.
It gives me great pleasure on behalf of the Firm and on my own personal behalf to give you an especial welcome.
But let me quickly caution that this is a lifetime of selfless SERVICE as officers of the law, to your clients, and in the pursuit of knowledge until time and circumstances are no more.
I have assumed that it is the desire and longing for knowledge, service, ploughing your trade in a manner befitting the dignity of this ancient and so fine a profession that has in turn ignited a furnace that has rekindled persistence, patience and yearning for the law, bringing you to this day.
The manifold Graces of the Most High God has brought you thus far. The rest is now in your hands; for if you take care of the law, I assure you with the hindsight of over twenty five years of continuous practice behind me, it will take care of you.
At the risk of being repetitious, I am to reiterate that you must treat and guard the law jealously. Your first and primary duty as an officer of the law is to the courts and the law. You must at all times be true to yourself, your conscience, and above all treat this Firm with candour and honesty.
Conducting yourself honourably in every sense of the word at all times and in a manner befitting the dignity of the profession and the reputation of this Firm is to put it mildly without any exception.
The very ethos of our peculiar style of practice, our brand as a premier legal service provider, needless to say, detests disloyalty in every sense. While we do take pride to encourage and nuture young minds, we abhor laziness, slothfulness, procrastination and pride. Always remember that you serve, and as servants, excellence in all that you do must aid in charting your course as a legal practitioner.
Being called to the Bar is by the stretch of any imagination a very memorable achievement. It is cliche that to whom much is given, a lot more is expected. To be direct, a lot more will be expected of you at MBC LEGAL.
While you chew on this, remember that many others applied for pupillage at the Firm and only you have been offered the opportunity to be pupils at MACAULEY, BANGURA & Co., after a rigorous selection process. This privilege given to you should never be treated lightly.
MACAULEY, BANGURA & CO. is a family. We pride ourselves in teamwork, having each other’s back and looking out for each other. We guard our own jealously. It is my distinguished honour and singular privilege as your Head of Chambers to call you today my learned friends and to welcome you to the profession.
I thank you.
We strive to ensure that the client must be able to do business on his/her own terms albeit within the ambit of the law and yet still, never be disadvantaged.
