Construction and Engineering Law & Practice

The last ten years have seen a major construction and infra structure boom in the country. Notably there have a been a flurry of both public and private partnership ventures as well as foreign direct investment by private companies in the sector. As a major legal and business advisory service provider, Macauley, Bangura & Co. has dealt with all legal aspects relating to construction, engineering and projects generally. Consequently, this has involved drafting and advising on institutional framework and financing agreements, construction agreements, litigations, arbitration and intellectual property matters.

As local consultants and counsel and working with Hutton & Williams LLP, a leading international law firm based in the United States and IPA Consulting from the United Kingdom, a new electricity law was drafted and passed into law in Sierra Leone. Advice on the institutional and financial framework was also given to the Government of Sierra Leone and the World Bank leading to the resuscitating of the Bunbuna Hydro Electric Dam Project in Sierra Leone which is now complete. We were also instrumental in advising Henan Guoji Corpration and China Seventh Railway Group in Sierra Leone with regards to the drafting of the incorporation papers, filing of same and their incorporation in Sierra Leone. The Firm served as the legal advisors for Henan Guoji Corporation in their acquisition from the Government of Sierra Leone of prime beach front property in Freetown, the capital city for the construction of their sea view estate project.
